The Richard E. McDowell Community Trail is an 10ft wide paved trail along the West Branch of Tunungwat Creek behind the University of Pittsburgh Bradford campus. It is fairly level with only some mild elevation changes passing over bridges and at the sothern end of the trail. The Fish Comission has special rules for fishing the creek that allows fishiing all year round when using artificial lures.

I gave this trail 2 stars because about half way through, it starts to abut homes, schools and roadways. The trail is paved so it’s nice if the weather has been previously rainy, but this type of trail is not what I am looking for when wanting to be with nature. It is also heavily trafficked with teenagers in large groups.

Great trail for a casual walk or run. Always kept clear and clean.

Very nice paved path along the river and University. Recommend starting at the turn around point listed in alltrails, where there is parking. The trailhead listed in all trails is at the closed bridge and parking is along side the road. Even so, a wonderful trail, especially in the fall - the colors are awesome.
