For a complete photo trail map, please see my recording here: https://api-v4.alltrails.com/explore/recording/weirder-state-forest-41d6c24 First of all, this trail system is EPIC designated by the International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA)."The EPICS designation denotes a true backcountry riding experience. IMBA EPICS are what many mountain bikers live for and make travel plans around: immersive rides that are technically and physically challenging, beautiful to behold and worthy of celebration." These trails are PERFECT FOR ANY ACTIVITY. If you mountain bike, hike, walk, or ride horses, this area has you covered. The trails are a mix of two-track access roads (that are well maintained) and wide single-track trails (less worry about ticks). Everything is mainly dry; no puddles or mud. The HANG GLIDER OVERLOOK is an absolute must-see! The view is spectacular, and you can see for miles. Check out the recording link above to see photo map of the overlook, trails, roads, and parking. May you always find joy in the scent of fresh air, the way breeze feels, the glistening reflection of a splashing creek, and the sound of wind in the trees.

Easy wide access road type trail. The trail becomes single track/narrow only between Schreffer Trail and Preserve Line Trail. Thought that ending mile part was the more scenic of the stretch since it ends up going along pines. Also, somebody sure had fun hiding painted rocks in various inconspicuous places among many of the wider trails in the forest. Noticed a couple on this trail, but then also found them partially hidden along Schreffer Trail as well. Kind of made the hike into a game as I began keeping a lookout for more of them on other trails.

We put together a short loop with the kids after checking out the Hang Glider Launch Site. Most of the “trails” are double track/access roads. A short stretch was on a more traditional hiking trail. Not everything was marked, but the All Trails app kept us on course.

Turned this into a 10 mile hike by looping it with a few other trails. Overall great hike, only saw 1 other person and he was out with his horse and dog. This hike is more remote, we ran into a 5 foot timber rattler. The snake gave us no problems but like all PA hike they are out there. Took the dog and she had a blast but there were a lot of ticks so check yourself and pets when done.
