Little Poe Loop via Mid-State Trail is a 3.9 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near Coburn, Pennsylvania that features a river and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking and nature trips. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.
Hike along the rocky ridge of Little Poe Mt following by an easy, level return loop back along Little Poe Creek (lots of Mt. Laurel). There aren't any open views/lookouts along the ridge part, but is much less covered by trees so you can see Long Mt to the south in many spots. Optional starting point could be the 2nd parking area at Poe Valley State Park and taking Hunters Path trail up to Mid-State Trail (sign post at parking area).
Beautiful forestry and beautiful area. The trail is super nice and I enjoyed everything about it.
this was the most incredible experience I've had hiking so far in central PA. I think it's because this is the first week of October and the mountain was ablaze with color! I just really loved this hike! I took little Poe road up to Hunters Trail instead of Little Poe Trail so the loop could be longer. I appreciated a gradual incline via Little Poe Rd and steep decline via Thorpe Trail. The magic of this hike happened at the top of the mountain as I turned onto Thorpe Trail. It was just a truly beautiful few miles. So many vibrant colors...I felt like I was in a storybook. I think this would be a really nice hike anytime, but I really encourage people to go during Fall! The only problem I had was running out of storage on my phone from all the pictures, causing my app to malfunction and stop my recording
