Getting There

This park may experience temporary closures such as the parking lot and it may be difficult to find the trailhead. Please check the following site for more information: https://www.dcnr.pa.gov/StateParks/FindAPark/NockamixonStatePark/Pages/default.aspx Part of this trail is on a trail in a hunting region. Remember to wear your florescent orange. Nockamixon Park is 5,286-acres big featuring a 1,450-acre Lake great for canoeing, kayaking, or fishing. The lake is open to boating and fishing 24 hours a day and the park is open sunrise to sunset. The park has a good amount of attractions and can be slightly crowded in the summer near the more public areas. the park does not allow swimming in the lake but does offer use of the pool. Perhaps one of the greatest trails is the new mountain biking trail off of Tower road. While the trail is still considered to be under construction by Valley Mountain Bikers it is typically open (except for extreme weather). The trail is approximately 8.5 miles featuring varying degrees of difficulty. Depending on the bikers skill level it can take almost 3 hours to complete the whole loop but most bikers with a hand full of trails under their belt can get it done in under 2 hours.

NOT a fan...we walked the main park trail and it led to a marina. which in turn led to some overgrown trails where all the pertinent building were closed down, like condemned. the one playground was even closed and that was a year BEFORE covid-19. maybe there are some smaller overgrown trails to check out, but this was a bust. if you go to the park, I say the pool and boat rentals are the only cool parts...both currently closed and not trails.

Decent trail. off grid, very few people using the trail on a Sunday morning. Definitely bring bug spray along.

HikingGreat!

Beautiful walk in the woods. Its a little hard to find the trail if the parking area is closed and you have to park up the road a bit. But, once you get into the heart of the trail, it is nice. Beware that basically all the trails are marked with red dots. Can be muddy so use bug spray and have the right footwear..

Trail is still pretty muddy in some areas and a little over grown in other areas. Not a lot of views of the lake but a nice trek through the woods.

Great trails except for the tall grass in many sections. Nice views of the lake in the beginning, pretty easy to navigate. Red blazes

I wanted to love this trail. We ended up hiking over eight miles and maybe one mile of it was enjoyable. Most parts were either extremely muddy or unbearably overgrown. A lot of the trail follows along a road so we heard quite a bit of traffic noise. The main trail is five miles long. We took the smaller loop twice by mistake before finding the path to the big loop. You have to cross over the creek to find it, which isn’t clearly marked. The lake views were beautiful, but no need to embark on the hike to enjoy them.

Some high grass in some parts, a little buggy, lost both of my sneakers in a muddy bog and laughed so hard about it. It was a great hike but having the right partner in crime for sure makes the time more enjoyable. Definitely going back.
