A cool, inviting trail filled with a lush understory of ferns, this trail winds along the stream and follows the gap in the mountain. The terrain changes to a dry, higher elevation that brings the hiker to the mountaintop. Follow the Red Blazes.

Difficultly finding trails not well marked download map and follow during transitions. Nice view. Little wildlife not much bird activity.

trail was rocky and muddy in some spots, lots of adventure for kids. trail cuts off into a lot of additional trails, occasionally spots of the trail were narrow and starting to over grow. we did however see a partial deer skeleton along the trail, but did not look recent. saw a few deer along the way.

Easy, with only couple of moderate hills. Some spots are rocky, so mind your ankles. Trails are fine, but the signage leaves a lot to be desired. We have hiked here on a number of occasions and the signage has not improved. The new maps no longer include blaze colors for trail markings. I don't understand this at all. People who hike regularly, especially around here with the AT so accessible, are accustomed to using the colored-blaze system. I am guessing this is a funding issue. I would strongly encourage the Governor and State Legislature to appropriate more funds for the State Park System to facilitate these kinds of necessary improvements in our state park system.

Nice little trail, the whole King's Gap area is good but not for a hiker looking for something more adventurous. More geared toward kids.

Only 4 of 5 stars due to poor signage in a few spots, but other than that a great hike today. A few spots, I thought, were on the harder side of moderate. Didn't see many animals, but it was 87 degrees so perhaps they were staying in the shade.

"Kings Gap Loop" trail is not actually a trail, it is a combination of about 7 different trails. If you want to do the actual Kings Gap Loop you will need to bring one of the maps provided for free, because you change trails and come to many intersections while hiking. The trails are poorly marked, but this is not a large issue because the all of the trails are well traveled and easy to follow.
I did enjoy the fact that you can do a custom hike because there are so many trails to choose from, making the hike as long or short or as hard or easy as you want.

Very tough depending which trail you take but it's very worth it in the end. Make sure you bring a lot of water and bug spray. Amazing views

Awesome trail! Well maintained. I saw exactly zero trash along the trail.

It's not very well marked. It would be easy to get turned around without GPS. The provided maps left something to be desired.

Scenic Vista trail, and Ridge Overlook trail had some great views. The whole hike was beautiful. There was only one short steep section on the path we took.

We saw four Common Five Lined Skinks, a ~3ft black snake, countless Spicebush Swallowtail butterflies, and one very startled Whitetail deer.

Excellent hike. Will definitely go again.

An old favorite. I've been all over this mountain and still find new things to see.

Confusing to find which trail is which but fun nonetheless.

While it was confusing when we started on a yellow trail and ended on a red trail, we enjoyed our adventure! We were lucky to see some great views from a few of the places we were! Definitely one I would do again!

This trail system is great. Lots of different options and everything is clearly marked for easy navigation. Grab a map in visitors center and enjoy the views. The Ridge overlook trail is great. Be sure to walk out back of the mansion to a breath taking view. Loved the mansion garden too.

beautiful! Took an easy yellow Kings Hollow trail from the mansion to the steep and beautiful vista .5 mile incline to Ridge Overlook, then continued to follow the yellow blazes to challenging Rock Screen back to the mansion. took maybe 2 hours. We definitely want to go back to check out more trails.

There are numerous trails here. Trail maps are available in the parking area near the mansion. Best view is from the deck/porch at the behind the mansion.
