I went here after looking at the photos showing great vires of the Kinzua valley. The trail laid out on the map takes you out on the Seneca trail and back along Cornplanter. With the leaves fully out, we encountered no scenic views, with the exception of an unexceptional look down a narrow power line right of way. Over much of the terrain, the ground was covered with ferns. Elsewhere mountain laurel was abundant, but we were a week to ten days early to catch it in bloom. The rocks are latge, eroded remnants of the capstone later of the Allegany plateau. There are lots of oak trees, mixed mostly with maple and ash, with the occasional cherry. The trail, popular with bikers, is well maintained. But, without the expected views, it disappointed.

Really fun trail. Easy to follow loop. Virtually no muddy spots. Watch out for bikes, had to step off the trail several times to let bikes pass, but everyone was super nice about it and let us know how many were riding with them, so we didn’t step back on until they all passed. With the overlook trail we ended up hiking a little over 5 miles.

Like in previous comments, the tails are very easy to follow and there is a posted map at various points along the trails. The paths do not have blazes to follow if you prefer these types of markings.

Beautiful trail with lots of different things to do and see. Gorgeous overlooks of the water and forest as well as stunning rock formations. Very good hike, definitely gets you working. You can pick up multiple different trails based on what you're looking for.

All of the trails in the Jakes Rocks area are well-maintained. Many are aimed at mountain bikers. Be on the alert if you're trail running or hiking, as you may need to stand to the side. Be aware that the trail as mapped here is not labeled "Jakes Rocks trail" but is a combination of several trails, including Coal Knob, Cornplanter, and Devil's Drop. You can cut a section off of Devil's Drop with a quick crossover. Study the map at the trailhead and/or bring along GPS. Otherwise there are no directions to show the loop. Cell service up here is very spotty and will eat up your cellphone battery.

Super easy trail with great overlooks! This is a well beaten path and would be great for a picnic. There are also bathrooms in the parking area.
