Trailhead is a parking area just off PA 26, 2 miles south of Pine Grove Mills. The trail starts on the east side of the paved road. Blue blazes. Follows the ridgeline of Tussey Mountain northeast. 4.5 km into the hike you reach the intersection of Jackson Trail with Mid State Trail. Turn south and begin following the orange blazes of Mid State Trail. This portion of the hike heads southwest to the vicinity of Beaver Pond (not visible from the trail) where it intersects with the Pine Grove Trail and the Ironstone Loop Trail. Turn right, following Mid State back up Tussey Mountain to the start of Jackson Trail. Sections of the Jackson portion of this hike cross rock fields with little in the way of blazes. The descent and ascent of Tussey are steep.

Extremely rocky trail but really nice views on both sides of the trail. Pretty flat and easy.
