Lots of wrong turns, AllTrails app was a nightmare but the trail was cool.
We thought we would get out for another thousand feet gain before the snow came. It ended up snowing on us the way back, but it was beautiful and we made great time. We love this hike.
Half marathon remix 25k on a clear spring day with Jill. Rocks, marshes, deer and tadpoles accompanied us.
Super fun that you walk through the petting zoo to access trail. Nice mixture of inclines, declines, and flats. I would call this more of a moderate hike. Twists and turns make it feel whimsical.
The trail segment between Rt 322 and Furnace Hill Pike is a bit more interesting than the other side. That part has more variation, passes by Eagle Rock and you might even get some goats staring at you at the very end by the Pretzel Hut (a lot of them). Both sides are well-blazed, there just isn't much to see on the west side unless you are going for the ascent/fitness.
Hiked a portion of Lenape, Boone and Horseshoe Trail. Clear cool day in mid March. Only saw two others on the trails. Very quiet, not much green yet. Only a few blowdowns, and some mud but all in all the trails were in good shape. Thanks to whomever takes care of them.
After days of rain, parts of the trail were flooded, and there was a lot of mud, but it was a nice walk! I’d like to go back and do more of the trail when the weather’s better.
I like this trail. There isn’t anything dramatic about it, but it has fun surprises along the way. Eagle Rock is a cool look out on a clear day, the small waterfalls are a pretty surprise, along with the great rock formations and informal petting zoo behind the Pretzel Hut. I think it’s appropriate for hiking, dogs, trail running, and kids.
