The Horse-Shoe Trail runs from Valley Forge Park to rural Dauphin County, about 140 miles. The hike described here is only a small piece.

Lots of rocks sticking out of the ground make for treacherous running. The descent especially is one best done slow enough if you want to save your ankles. I would avoid running there if you are likely not to see the ground (e.g., if it is covered by leaves or snow).
