My favorite day use trail in the area.

Note it has been closed the entire summer of 2017 due to high waters this past winter. I tried to use it 9/2017 and it is still impassable.

The difficulty varies greatly on this trail depending upon the weather!!!! If the sand is frozen or partially frozen and it isn't windy - it's a quick easy walk. Majority of the trail is sandy if not straight sand so it can be taking on the lower legs. If it is windy- look the hell out it can be a very difficult hike. Temperatures out on the point in late winter early spring can be 20 degrees difference from a few miles away so come prepared.

That being said just incredible view. I tell people if I blind folded you and placed you at the end of the trail in January and Feb. when there are ice dunes you would swear you were in the artic circle. Incredible lake views on one side, ponds, marshes, Thompsen Bay on the other side. Tons of Wild birds, usually very few other people.

Good for hiking, snow shoes, and fishing.
