The visitor’s center was closed, and we did not get cell service here, so it took a few minutes to find the trail head - right across from the visitor’s center. This loop is actually a combination of several other trails, and it is not highlighted on the map by the visitor’s center. We went up the yellow blazed trail and down the orange trails. The first 1.5 miles in the valley are kinda boring, but the incline was fun, and the view excellent. Definitely a moderate intensity hike. Lots of mountain laurel and rhodendron at the higher elevations. Coming down the orange blazed trail was nice, and rocky at times, but for the most part, a gentle descent.

It was a great hike, very rocky, steep but it is worth the view. I would come back to do it again. Trails are very easy to follow.

Great hike. Went up yellow and and then down the orange blazes. The trail in this direction zig-zagged up the bulk of the elevation gain which made it more enjoyable. It looked like there was a steeper trail (marked blue) that went staight up through the zig zagging trail if you wanted something more intense. Muddy in spots but nothing too bad. We had fun checking out the furnace across the street once we were done.

Great combo of gradual forest ascent, narrow rocky trail with some views mixed in and more level forest trail. The blazing/marking are pretty decent throughout the thinner ridge part of the trail, but there are many rocks of varying sizes and wobbliness so you will be watching your feet along here mostly. Views were great and really enjoyed the descent down Turkey Trail with the switchbacks and numerous rock steps...probably the neatest part in regards to the actual trail.

Great trail and beautiful state park. My first time there and I will be back. One of the best vistas in the area. Very well marked. We went up orange and down yellow.

Nice loop. Rocky at times (but that's PA). The view from the vista is worth the climb. There's a register close by. All Trails calculates the loop at 4.6 miles. We had readings of 5.1, 5.5 and 5.7 on a phone and watches.

Beautiful hike, very well marked. 40 degrees and sunny made it feel great when getting hot from climbing. Might be more muddy when thawed, but only in some spots. More rocky at the top, so wear the proper shoes. We went up the gradual part, and came down the steep part, which I am grateful for. The vista is gorgeous. Only took us two hours, but we had a good pace. I tracked using my fitbit, and I tracked 6.45mi. That could be due to losing service, and it assuming my pace over the amount of time, thus neglecting stopping at the vista. Regardless, still think it is no less than 5 mi. I would do this hike again for sure.

Loved this trail. Got there early so didn’t have to share. If you like elevation, this is a great trail.

Nice trail with full tree coverage. We didn’t make it all the way to the top at greenwood tower due to incoming rain. This is 1000+ ft of elevation change, so be ready. Would hike again.

This is most likely the most educating state park in PA's system. A full schedule of educational and informative programs throughout the year, fun for all ages. A great beach and picnic area and pavillions to rent for special occasions. There are many trails to choose from, for the novice to the thru-hiker. Hikes from around the lake to spurs that connect to the Mid State Trail, (over 200 miles), or the Standing Stone Trail, (just over 70 miles). Camping is available for primitive or small campers or do as my wife and I did, Backpack to the Mid State trail, via the Fire Tower trail and camp out in Rothrock State Forest. The lake is stocked with trout throughout the year but let me give a word of advice. The feeder stream is some of the best native trout fishing in all of PA and for some reason not many people know it!
