"Grand" view indeed...if only could see above the trees. Fire tower is fenced/locked out as are most fire towers in the parks these days. Regardless, I enjoyed this trail due to the variety it provides (wide grassy path, gravel road, narrow rocky woods). Also, since is away from the falls trail, avoids the crowds and much more peaceful. Very pretty when leaves are starting to change color. I did see an unblazed trail at the top and seemed to go down a little...didn't take it, but wonder if maybe led to an actual view.

Nice woodland sections but other than that, nothing very interesting and no views from the top!

Not really worth doing unless you are planning on trespassing and going up the old fire tower, I’m sure the view would be great from up there. Otherwise, there wasn’t really anything to see.

had a good time hiking this trail. I've lived in this area a long time but never hiked this trail till this year. I will hike it again this year.

This is a nice, easy 2 mile trail that's a little off the beaten path and is a good alternative to the overcrowded falls trail. Although it offers no real views it's quiet, accessible, and you can actually hear and see wildlife which is what many of us come out into the woods to do. About 2/3 of the trail is an old disused fire road which takes you past the fire tower which is unfortunately off limits. Signage or blazing could be better, if I didn't have the app we may have made a wrong turn towards the end but that comes with trails that are underused. Overall I'd call this trail a winner and suggest it for anyone looking for an easy, quiet, and quick hike.

This is a great winter trail! I’m sure the firetower is a grand view, but it is closed.. but still there is a firetower, that’s a highlight for some. In summer the trees don’t allow to see out from ground level, but there was a nice view in winter with no leaves.

Nothing grand about this. I went because the falls were closed and left disappointed.

Beautiful flora on this cold November day (11/6/2017). The colors were battling for superiority. So much Moss!

The view is obstructed by the trees and the fire tower is closed to public access. A lot of bugs in September. Not worth the time.
