So I did the outer loop trail which the app says is 6.1 miles. Nice hike (I've also done the observation tower loop but didn't record that one) BUT according to the app I hiked 7.1 miles which based on my hiking time is more accurate.

Nice trail. Distance longer than originally posted, 7 miles, not 6.1.

Great trail. Trail can get a little confusing if your you don’t have a map with you. Just keep taking the path to the right and don’t forget your bug spray!

Started at 7:45 AM on a Sunday. I only saw about 6-8 people on the 2 hour hike, but traffic was starting to pick up when I was leaving. Beautiful hike through the woods that was quiet for the most part, but some areas of the trail do parallel roads, so you get some road noise. Be careful at trail intersections. It can be easy to go the wrong way. Pay careful attention on the Trail 15 portion of the trail as it is poorly blazed and is easy to get sidetracked with the terrain on that part of the trail, which is VERY rocky.

Nice trail with a variety of wooded landscapes, boulders, rocky hillsides, big woods, mature timbers and reforested enclosures. Not much elevation and some minor road noise but an enjoyable time in the woods.

First to Review

Trail #5 and #3 are the easiest part of the loop and probably better for trail running. #15 is more narrow, curvy and somewhat rocky, but better if just doing hiking. Mountain biking seems to be pretty common among any of the trails in the park as well. This loop is better if just going for exercise as there aren't really any landmarks to see on this path other than some brief side trails to boulder areas along trail #15. Also hear a bit of traffic since most of it is pretty close to the road around the north side. Can always take any number of short trails up to the tower though which is worth it. The short stretch where trail #3 and #2 cross is kind of funny in that there are essentially 4 trails in that spot all in parallel and all within a few feet of each other. On both sides of #2 and #3 is more narrow trail that borders along the fenced in area.
