Excellent quiet hike with lots of wildlife. Trail is easy to find if Google brings you to the right place. Old Smokey Rd ends in a parking area for State Gameland 302. Trail begins beyond the large gate. Evidence of hunting and ATV use but we only passed a group of 2 ATVs and otherwise saw no one. We saw: many blooming wildflowers, nearly 20 species of butterflies/moths, 2 cool caterpillars, many toads and frogs, one puddle with tadpoles and 3 red efts (bright orange juvenille form of the Eastern Spotted Newt). Trail is quite overgrown and wet at times, especially where it goes around a fallen tree, but fairly easy to follow. Wear good shoes amd pants!

This is for ATVs. Not hiking. They’re steep and muddy.

Nice relaxing hike. The trail I found is mostly a ranger road. There were trail markers by Wheeling Creek but it appeared the trail was washed out. We've had a super wet summer with lots of heavy rain. Gorgeous wild flowers & some fungus.
