East Branch Trail is a 1.1 mile connector trail between the Loyalsock Trail at mile 44.7 and mile 41.0. The trail is a grassy old lumber road following above the east branch of Double Run for the most part. The trail allows several loop options at either end. On the west branch of Double Run where the Loyalsock Trail and the Double Run Nature Trails veer right from the old road they follow, the East Branch Trail fords the stream just above a small waterfall. The trail begins a short steep climb before quickly easing off as it crosses the Double Run Nature Trail at .15. The trails climbs then drops to a stream at .3. Seasonal waterfalls are below the trail. Seasonal waterfalls are also above the trail in an out of sight small gorge requiring a short hike up the stream. The trail continues steadily climbing the east branch of Double Run watershed. At .6, as the trail bears right and when the east branch of Double Run can be seen close below, a rough trail leads steeply down through some hemlocks to a narrow gauge railroad’s pigtail on the opposite side of the stream. The pigtail leads a few hundred feet to the Link Trail at the old railroad’s switchback. Continuing around the curve the East Branch Trail continues climbing. At 1.1 the trail crosses a stream then a short distance later meets the Loyalsock Trail.
