Cynwyd Heritage Trail from Manayunk is a 3.5 mile moderately trafficked out and back trail located near Bala Cynwyd, Pennsylvania that features a river and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for walking, running, and road biking and is best used from March until November. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.
It seems everyone in Manayunk knows the tow path along the river. Few have found this trail from downtown Manayunk to the Baga Cynwyd SEPTA station, and it's got it all: views over Manayunk, the canal, river, and freeway, a pleasant stream, interpretive signage, access to the historic cemetery, and even a cafe at the end of the trail! With virtually no elevation change and both paved and unpaved paths, it's accessible for everyone from walkers to runners, tricycles to road bikes. Accessibility: The paved trail surface is most accessible for wheelchairs and strollers and is typically at least eight feet wide. The grade is mostly gentle (all estimated under 5% except for a steep 12% section at 0.2 miles).
Ok mixed terrain addicts, this one is for you! About 1/2 road riding (as I live in south philly), 1/4 protected bike lanes, nice gravel run and a smidge of single track. Love this ride!!
This was a nice easy hike, took a little over an hour to complete the trip there and back. It was a bit crowded and there were bugs out, but otherwise a pleasant experience!
starts with a cool bridge over the Schuylkill River. clean, neat views, paved trail with a few dirt paths beside it in certain parts.
Really enjoyed this trail. Very peaceful escape, and very well maintained!
