Nice walk through the woods.Rain the week before made it very muddy but with boots on not a problem. Nice mix of easier walking and then near the top,a little more work. Beautiful view from the top. From the Sherwood drive parking spot was about 5 miles up and back. Will do it again.

Fun day hike, 11 year old daughter also enjoys it. The ascent at the second half can be challenging, and the overlook is a nice reward.

Nice well marked and maintained trail. View not as nice as Flat Rock trail but still worth it.

I really loved this hike!! Some parts were uphill and it was muddy and the dogs loved it!

Loved it! Lil mud, lil rain, lil jogging. MKe sure to bring water and some snacks. Shoes you can get muddy. Can be steep in some areas.
Took me about an 1.5 hours to get to the shelter.

Great trail, with pleasant views. Cross rolling hills, along a stream, with views from the woods of farmers fields. You will cross seven bridges over streams and a tunnel under 944. At the top of the ridge you can sit on a rock bench and enjoy the view. A bit muddy today, particularly on our way back to the trailhead after the ground thawed.
I will do this hike again.

Muddy but a very well marked along the creek and up the mountain. The trail has beautiful scenery and is very well maintained. The overlook is a nice bonus.

Hiked from Sherwood Dr parking to Darlington Shelter and back. It was a fun hike although the trail was quite swampy in spots. Definitely recommend some waterproof hiking boots. The climb up to the overlook is just enough to get the heart rate going. Nice view. Looking forward to doing this hike again after it dries out!

Headed out on the trail for the first time at the end of January, took our 100lb dog with us. It was a muddy mess but fun. Plenty of other pups out there as well. The final ascent was steep, even slowed down the dog, but it was worth it.

It's a lot of work for the view, but the trail's well maintained and the hard work comes after you are, shall we say, fully warmed up? Nice physical challenge.

Trail well-shaded and well-maintained throughout. Very easy from trailhead to Wertzville Road- after you cross under the road, things become a bit rockier, and there is more of a steady grade. The climb up to the Overlook is fairly rocky and steep, but not terribly challenging.

For me it began easy then became moderate and finished as strenuous near the top. Well marked.

Good trail. Did it today with a group. We started on Bernheisel Bridge Road so it was about 7.5 miles round trip. Would do it again

Just hiked it for the first time! Great trail, lookout is good would be even better if the leaves were down. If it rained recently watch out, path looks like it could easily get mucky. They do have boards and traction around though. Good hike! Lots of fun.

The trail between Bernheisel Bridge Road and the Cumberland Overlook is maintained quite well. The hike is a fairly gentle switchback most of the way up and gets steep near the end. The mountainside faces south and can get warm. We managed to see a black snake today and the air temp was only 60F.
