Nice walk overall. The pond is quite interesting with lots marshy areas. The reason I gave only 4 stars is because the first half mile or so of the trail on the east side of the loop is stone ballast, which is difficult to walk on. Further on, a foot path evolved along the side of the road. Once you get to the pond, the trail surface is grass and/or fine gravel.

Also note that there is a parking area before the one for the pond trail, just as you cross the bridge over the creek. There is a nice trail here that follows Masthope Creek downstream for about 1/2 mile. Very pretty and easy grass trail.
