This is a new Glen Onoko Trail Route due to the falls closure. Access to Upper Falls (Cave Falls) is still allowed via the Shortcut Trail (Blue Blaze). The Upper Trail (Red Blaze) forms a loop back down the return route at the Jim Thorpe Overlook.

Fun hike. it doesn't have the scenic fall views of the old trail, but it is a good alternative. Great picnic area with some water and small waterfall on top. Nice cardio uphill...not too long, but tough on the knees on the way down. Beautiful September weather and we saw one baby black snake on our way back.

Easy hike beautiful views

WoW!!! “Moderate” hike I think NOT!! Amazing incline to the top and around to the falls. Hiking boots highly recommended! We followed the Red all the way up and came down on the Blue. 2.7 miles in all from railroad tracks up n back. My 3 boys (6,7,10) made this rugged hike and loved it. Go for the challenge!!!

So much fun! Massive stone steps all the way up. Great waterfall to picnic by after you climb. Walking sticks or poles are helpful. Some stones are a bit loose but overall steady footing.

Very well marked, friendly park rangers, a good work-out, steep and rocky but plenty of trees to hold on to and roots for footholds. Couldn't see the falls from the top and Jim Thorpe overlook was overgrown. Probably better with no leaves on trees. Stone stairs on the way down were super cool. I would recommend.

Very rocky and steep. More on the harder side rather than moderate. Well worth the hike for the views. You can see the falls from the top and if you break the rules you can get a better view.

Great hike. Going anticlockwise, you climb 1000 ft in like 0.7-0.8mi which is a very decent grade up. The pth is quite rocky and good broken in hiking shoes are must. Hike to base of falls was closed but you can hike to the top of the falls, enjoy the views and head back on the “shortcut” trail which is lined with wildflowers and mostly downhill going back to the parking area. Super green trail. Didnt see anybody since everybody wants to do the smaller falls trail in and out. Good hike to combine with buttermilk falls and luke’s falls nearby.
