I hiked this trail yesterday and ran into a black bear about 1.5 miles into the hike. Prior to the bear sections of the trail were washed out. It’s a good loop but keep an eye out for bears.

Did this counterclockwise and the trail was relatively flat and gradual in incline. Trail was VERY overgrown, washed out, and muddy, especially since it had been raining the days before.

our group finished the sandy trail, but decided to add in the hickory trail and some of the fire line trail. so our hike went from a 6.7 mile to a 9 mile. sad to say I was disappointed to not see any water falls along this hike, I was deceived by some of the pictures posted. the waterfall is on a completely different trail in this park. so the pictures I have posted are strictly from the sandy trail loop only. fun flat loop to enjoy with your dog crew. definitely coming back to try the more scenic view trails.

Mostly flat. Nice stroll through the woods. Few short river crossings, and unstable rocks and tree trunks. On the day we hiked, many patches of only ice, and 80% covered ice with snow. Also note that out of season the campgrounds are closed, and you will have to walk from the parking lot outside the campground to the trail head, which is about half a mile.

The trail that my bf and I hiked was very scenic and decent for hiking. What I didn't like was that it wasn't a separate trail. On the map, it showed all trails connect to other trails. It would be easier to follow if it remained its own trail. Since each trail has it's own parking area, it would be hard to go on other trails. The hike back to my car would have been exhausting if I chose to switch trails.

Mixed it up...looped fireline into Skyline then down to the railroad along the Lehigh River. 3 miles in all.

I just did a nice easy in and out section, from Rt 534 Hickory Run Trail to the D&L (Rail Road)

This trail loop is probably the best approximation of a fun and easy loop. If camping at the site off of SR 534 take Sand Spring Trail out of the site and make an immeadiate left onto the Blue Trail (1 mile, not available on this site), this will connect to the Pine Hill Trail which you take a right onto and follow it down the hill to the rail tracks. This follows the edge of the park and has some small rock patches and wide fields of fern with lots of older tree canopy coverage. At the rail tracks make a right and then right again up the creek on Sand Spring Trail. This has a gentle slope and dense Rhododendron. Takes about three hours total.

Nice trail. Did the loop clockwise which had a steep but short downhill. Nice meadows and the walk along the stream is nice. Waterfall is a bit of an exaggeration, but still a good walk.

Beautiful place...

Lovely place with lots of trails and wildlife. Very serene and the beach is also nice. The trails range from easy to difficult. I love deer trail. It's quite beautiful. The trail was a bit humid and there was quite a few nats, but those things are to be expected in the outdoors.

So many trails. Saw a lot of deer and chipmunks. Went to Boulder Field which was very cool. Cant wait to go back again to explore more.

We hiked Hawk Falls Trail. It was a fast hike. The terrain is rocky and uneven but very doable. Wear proper sneakers because the rocks / boulders at the falls are big, some slippery some unstable. The water is about waist deep and so refreshing. There were lots of swimmers so maybe some water shoes and a towel are in order. The walk is only about 10-15 minutes each way.

This park is in a great location especially for those heading from the East visiting PA. Plenty of hiking trails that I would consider easy compared to some in PA. Dog friendly and kids love this park! If you're camping don't forget your tarp! Lots of rainfall in this region.

This Park is very well maintained and has many trails to explore, for all ages and levels of expertise. There are waterfalls, rock formations, magnificent trees and rhododendrons, (when in season), streams, fishing spots, swimming spots, and more. I have been hiking this park for several years and always love returning, in all seasons.

Nice park. Boulder field is fun. I raced my friend across the rocks which was fun. I won because he only ran a few feet and stopped. Not recommended, but anyway it's a nice place to spend the day.
