2020.05.02 R. AMC. Mud we expected but the trail went through almost swamp areas. We left the recorded trail and went up to Big Pine Hill Lookup Tower. This is only place we saw other hikers. Two were at the top but yelled down the were getting ready to come down. As we climbed up another couple came to the tower but they waited until we come down until they started towards the tower. This is like the 2nd and 3rd groups that are considerate and respect social distancing. It was a pleasant surprise. We continued the recorder trail but the path clearly isn’t well traveled. They were narrow and thick with brush. It was a gorgeous day so we didn’t have long pants on. Our calves looked like a cat scratched the heck out of them. No fun. There were several areas with big trees blocking the path and they had been down a long time. Clearly these trails are not maintained but they are passable.

This was a fun trail! It was well marked but be aware that there is a good amount of brush along this trail. Had to stop every 20 minutes to remove ticks. Make sure to spray up before you hit this one.

Good trail and easy as described. We did the loop clockwise which has a very gradual and not noticeable up hill grade and a short downhill. The observation tower is well worth the two additional minutes to get there. Parts of the trail ate overgrown, but the blazes are great.
