Trail was nice, but the starting point is incorrect. It told me to come up a road - but the road is dirt and not the correct parking place. Park at the Ned Smith Center and hike up the mountain instead of following All Trails’ instructions to get here!!

scramble

We hiked this route last weekend. While the top portion of the trail was easy, the scramble down the power line and the steep climb back up we’re both challenging. We had our three children (12, 8, 7) and our Great Dane with us. Due to loose footing, we went off trail halfway down the power line. I recommended going out and back without including the loop, as the lower portion was pleasant but not worth the scramble. Unless you like moss - there were some cool sections that reminded me of the moss trolls in the movie Frozen; I was waiting for them to stand up and sing to us! :)

It was difficult to find where the hiking trails began, but once I stumbled on to them, they were great!

This is a great place for families, especially when the nature center is open. The trails are not well kept, but are easily traveled. There is a place on the yellow trail where the markers drop off. We traveled the lower route to the higher side of the loop. It was confusing, but it did not take long to explore and find the correct path. Please be cautious and find the color marker. It is there...down the hill and through the door (assuming the trees remain in place). The yellow mark can be found on the other side of the "doorway". We traveled with a 1 and 3 years old. It was a fun afternoon. The volunteer at the nature center was kind and opened the bee exhibit for the kids. A very nice place.

The north trails are nice and easy paced trails with a few steady climbs, however going all the way out the "Holly Loop" trail was a little confusing. I almost took a wrong turn into the woods after searching 360° for any trail markers. Over all nice on a cool morning and very enjoyable.
