Really beautiful, well marked trail. I will definitely visit here again. Many peaks and valleys. The covered bridge at the end of the 5 mi was the pinnacle of finds, didnt even know there was one on this trail!

Enjoyable trail for a quick day out of Pittsburgh and into the woods. Several points in the hike lead you onto a road and near some residential. Otherwise, you’re in the peaceful woods with several streams meandering throughout. Trail was extremely buggy in July so bring your bug spray. Couldn’t imagine not having it for the hike. Stop by the shore of Crooked Creek reservoir afterwards.

Great trail. Ups and downs around crooked creek. Nice little day hike. Pitched up my hammock at the head of the actual trail (baker trail) and had a great time. The northern terminus starts in a parking lot and moves past some residential but afterwards opens into the woods, great stuff.

We went for hike on the Laurel Trail (Blue blaze). We were impressed with how well maintained the trail was in the beginning. Towards the end, the blue trail veered off to the left side which we got off the trail to a private road. We missed the blue blaze indicating us to climb the hill. That part of the trail was not maintained. We did see Mountain Laurel on the white blaze trail near where the boy scouts camp. There were no water fountains for us to get a drink. Luckily, we packed our own water.

This map is just showing a very short section of The Baker Trail. Although this is probably one of the prettier sections. The Baker Trail is around 136 miles long in its entirety. There are some long road sections, mainly in the middle. The southern end of the trail is located just off Route 356 near Freeport with the northern end in the Allegheny National Forest. Every year in August The Rachel Carson Conservancy holds a 50 Mile Ultra-marathon on a section of this trail. If your looking for a challenge, try completing a 50 mile race in 14 hours on this trail. Do all three sections (north, central, and south) and receive a very cool medal.

I enjoyed 70% of it. The trail goes off and on road, it kinda feels like you're walking someone's backyard because of the houses around the trail. But overall it's an easy hike to do, again not that exciting though.
