Very nice and mild hike for the most part. The game lands part is very well maintained as long as you stick to the App Trail. Lots of nice campsites to stop and take a break at if need be. It only starts to get rocky as you near the Pinnacle.

HikingMuddy

Parked in the lot in Kempton and had no issues but it looked like other trails were closed. First 2 miles are pretty much all uphill and then it levels out. Trail is super wide and was pretty wet/muddy in parts, but was easy to walk around a lot of the puddles. Took us about 4.5 hours to hike the whole thing, including time hanging up at the pinnacle. Not a ton of maps but stick on the white trail and it’ll get you there. There’s a fresh water spring about 2.5 - 3 miles in that was pretty cool if you catch it. Definitely a good social distancing hike.

Tried to hike up to Pinnacle Peak via the Reservoir Road but there were signs saying the trail was closed. Not sure if this is just a county regulation but check to see if it's been open before you go. Decided to drive east and get on the AT at Bake Oven Knob. We had no problem hiking the AT there.
