Alpha Pass: blue blazes, moderate hiking This trail is at the northern end of McConnells Mill State Park and is part of the North Country National Scenic Trail. This trail begins at the Alpha Pass scenic vista and follows the east bank of Slippery Rock Creek. There is an exit to the Point Parking Area or the trail follows the creek to the Old Mill.

Very scenic. Lots of small ridges and rock formation. A little bit of a decline to get to Alpha Falls.

The park describes this trail as "more difficult", not easy. Don't miss the unmarked path to the base of Alpha Pass Falls. It leaves the blue blazed stairway about halfway down into the gorge. Return to the blue blazed NCT trail to follow the whitewater creek to the gristmill.

Nice and short warm up trail before you get to the old mill and head on to Kildoo Trail. Right on the water has some nice views and worth doing once.
