Featuring the Pinkerton Tunnel. (6 miles) The Pinkerton Tunnel cuts through 849' of a significant bend in the Cassleman River. Unfortunately, some of the tunnel roof has collapsed necessitating a 1.5 mile bypass around the Pinkerton Horn. There are, however, some trails just at the Eastern end that will get you down to the river. There is no cell phone service between Confluence and Meyersdale. The TOPO! Overlay file included with this review contains data for the entire 30 miles of the Allegheny Highlands Trail from Confluence to Meyersdale and includes the track of the planned trail and road bypass route to Cumberland, Md.
