Yaquina Bay State Park is located in Newport at the north end of Yaquina Bay near its outlet to the Pacific Ocean. The bluff is forested with spruce and pine, but the real star is the historic lighthouse. The lighthouse -- later used as a Coast Guard Lifeboat Station -- has been restored and is open

This place has Sand Dunes that I have never seen on a beach before! Despite how sunny it was, it got super windy the closer we got to the water. But it was still really scenic and pretty. We didn't make it in time to explore the lighthouse, but the walk out to the beach itself is still a good consolation prize.

Stopped to see the lighthouse but missed the tour because it closes early. Hiked down to the beach.

We just did the trail to the top of the hill near the light house. It was a beautiful walk, with a great view! Very easy. We also went down to the pebble beach and saw harbor seals. It's just a beautiful area and well worth taking a few hours to explore.

This is a paved trail that leads to the Yaquina Bay lighthouse. Easy walk. The lighthouse was really cool, and they offer tours.

There is a network of paved trails in the picnic area of the state park. It winds around, up and down, short and steep hills. The path leads through the Salal bushes to hidden picnic tables and also leads to the haunted light house; which is open to the public during certain hours. These trails aren't anything special. In my opinion, the real walking/hiking fun is on the beach. This state park has parking and beach access by way of a steep, downhill path and stairway. The parking area and beach access both have incredible views of the Yaquina bridge.
