I wasn’t able to finish the hike, it was blocked off. I truly enjoyed the beginning of the hike. I’m excited to one day complete it!

Great trail with multiple easy access points. Best in the summer for running when it’s not muddy and it’s shaded. The northern end is relatively secluded from other runners and hikers.

The most beautiful cathedral of redwoods right before the Burnside pedestrian bridge. Even in the grey light a majestic rain forest , 1 min. from downtown Portland but seems like stepping back in time.

Today we hiked the Wildwood trail from the intersection of the Garden Trail by the Japanese Garden to the Zoo in Washington Park. It was a beautiful foggy fall hike, mostly downhill. As you get closer to the Zoo there are many intersecting trails at the Vietnam Memorial, Holocaust Memorial & Hoyt Arboretum, and each intersection has a well marked sign. A lovely, leisurely hike.

The first 15 miles were cake, the next 11.2 were worth it and last part was brutal! Good luck, make sure you have enough water. I’m going to go back to looking up crutches online.

My boyfriend and I hiked from the connector Garden Trail at the Japanese Garden to Wildwood heading toward Pittock Mansion. We wanted to see the new Barbara Walker Crossing pedestrian bridge over West Burnside. You hike through Hoyt Arboretum to get to the bridge. For us it was a lovely Autumn day & we enjoyed a leisurely stroll.

Great trail, but with the new bridge they removed the road access and Burnside. Now I have to hike an additional half mile and cross traffic to catch the bus.

The section across W. Burnside is now open again after the dedication of the Barbara Walker pedestrian bridge on Oct. 27. No more hazardous crossings!
