Nice trail, but it tracked us at almost 2 miles over the listed distance.

This might be a four star in the summer, but both Firelands or swampy muddy disastrous masses. The rest of the hike was decent. On all trails I clocked almost 7 miles and I never strayed from the trail. The mileage listed here is incorrect.

The good: quiet, beautiful, leafy hike. Not too many people; mainly trail runners and some folks improving the trail (thank you!) Nice leg workout. Really pretty trees and tranquility. The bad: as others have mentioned, the trail is super confusing. I actually turned around half way through on Maple for fear of getting lost in FP forever. It just became stressful to keep track of the route. This route was still a good ~ 6 miler. The trail is also more suited for runners; you don’t really have the payoff of reaching a destination or see many views (you’re deep in the forest along the Wildwood). Lastly - no garbage to be found for my dog’s #2! In short: this seems like a great route if you’re a runner and know where you’re going. Super quiet and low traffic. For hikers with a pup, not necessarily the most gratifying route, but still a great exercise and forest bathing opportunity!

Lovely, shady hardly any people, easy to moderate trail. Loved it.

Great trail! I went on one of the first beautiful days of spring and it was very quiet! You literally pass all the crowded Washington park trailheads and go a couple miles to get to the trailhead where I only saw two cars parked (beware of potholes!) Makes for a peaceful walk with some good spurts of climbing to get a leg workout in. I recommend following the AllTrails map as a guide, because it is definitely easy to get lost in there. I followed it and my hike was more like 6.5 miles.

6.3 miles, 1 hour 48 minutes. Hiked slightly brisk. Easy. Quiet. Semi-muddy. PROS: Beautiful part of Forest Park, saw only 2 people on entire hike, very pretty in spring. CONS: As is true with most hikes in Forest Park, it is pretty shady and there are not many views of the valley. Completed this on Monday, 4/22/19 in the afternoon, average temperature 60 degrees.

I liked the trail and with all the side trails available it’s easy to make it as long as you want it. I ended up hiking about 4.5 miles but I had some significant incline that made the shorter hike a good workout.

Beautiful sunny, cold, quiet Monday in the woods! Trail is well maintained. Would have given full stars had there been a view of the four volcanoes not blocked by trees!
