Great for a first date or catching up with an old friend. It's easy to get taken away and head down a different trail, but who's in a hurry? This loop is a great intro to the parks and attractions located in this area of Portland.

Our family really enjoyed this hike. Great scenery and the section going through the rose garden was fantastic.

Easier than the other two moderate trails I have done on this app. Parked nearby on the street so I didn’t have to pay for parking.

Great trail for visitors and locals alike. Easily accessible with or without a car. It’s only a 10 minute train ride from downtown to the start of the trail. Use this map more as a suggestion. With so many trails intersecting in Washington Park, you can easily break away and catch up with this map at a later point. I’d suggest coming early on a weekend, or go on a weekday. I hiked in the middle of the day on a Tuesday and only passed a few other parties. Definitely take a break at the rose garden if you are hiking in summer. Crowded but worth it. Trail will be pretty muddy if it’s been raining but I had no problems today. Don’t worry too much about sticking to this exact path. I veered off multiple times, unintentionally, and always found my way back without any problems.

Great trail linking lots of attractions. Very peaceful today as everything is closed. Educational signs along Hoyt Arboretum trail would make for a nice field trip for kids.

At first I had a few doubts about this route due to going through a neighborhood and parking lot. After a bit of thought I realized it's well curated. It passes by all the main attractions of the park including the zoo, Japanese garden, Vietnam memorial, rose garden, Hoyt Arboretum & Forestry Center. The only thing I changed was to find free parking instead of the suggested starting point.

Nice close-in hike in forest park. Skirting the Japanese and rose gardens. Lovely way to get a few miles in.

This was a really fun Saturday morning hike! My boyfriend and I are new to the area so this was a great way to see some of the Portland sights such as the Japanese garden and the arbortoreum. It was a pretty easy hike and decently easy to follow.
