We came on a Thursday mid-morning and there was hardly anyone walking. The trail begins right next to the store. It is not necessarily a “private trail”, the beginning is framed with cabins but begin to fade as you start walking further. We brought our dog and there were plenty of spots for her to quickly walk in and out. It was not a hard hike, flat and an easy walk.

Easy, beautiful trail. A few cabins near the general store, but the trail becomes bordered by lush green ferns and wild flowers. Be sure to visit headwaters of the Metoluis River

It was really nice. Lots of spots to stop and let my puppy get in the water to cool down. Super beautiful. Next time I would wear pants as the parts of the path are overgrown.

Very pretty and short little walk along the river. Did it in the snow with my puppy awhile back and it was beautiful with all the winter colors.

Nice dusk walk along the river. Pheasants. Fish jumping. Sunset thru to the trees. Very relaxing.

Capped off the last evening of our stay on the Metolius with this hike after having hiked the West Metolius River Trail a little further north earlier in the day. The former was definitely more spectacular, but this was a nice, quiet walk. Some of it deviates from the river a small bit and you're walking through a lot of high grass, but I found it a relaxing way to wind down and soak up the beauty of the area before returning home.
