Backpacked this in a group of 4 with dogs over Labor Day weekend. Hiking up Wallowa Trail, you have great views all the way leading up to 6 mile meadow. We stopped and enjoyed lunch and some fly fishing here before continuing up to Lakes Basin. Many of the Horseshoe Lake campsites were occupied by 5pm, but continuing on there were 3 additional lakes, each with several campsites to choose from. The view from the saddle before descending into Hurricane Creek canyon was spectacular - looking back East towards Lakes Basin, looking South towards Eagle Cap and North towards Matterhorn with the meadow and stream below. Our campsites were fantastic, especially for a holiday weekend - near water, established fire rings and excellent views.
