Our AirBnB host told us that the Wallowas are known as the “Swiss Alps” of Oregon. According to Travel Oregon, these mountains contain 49 peaks over 8,000 feet. Granted there’s a ton of things to do within this mountain range and in the resident city of Joseph. The fastest way to see most of it is to take the Wallowa Lake Tramway for $35. What REALLY blew me away was Wallowa Lake that you’ll see going up. From the summit, there’s a looped hike that you can do for different viewpoints. When we went, the viewpoints to the north were closed due to snow. Dress warm and wear hiking shoes since you might have to hike through some snow and it could get pretty cold even though it’s summer.
