Wahkeena Spring is a 3 mile heavily trafficked out and back trail located near Corbett, Oregon that features a waterfall and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking, running, and nature trips and is best used from May until October. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.
Great solo hike and quite and beautiful. First half kicked my butt and I love it
Really nice hike, however if you’re following the trail map on AllTrails the very last turn if you go left it doesn’t lead to anything , to get to the springs you need to go right instead of left at the very last part of the trail. There will be a map and a rock on the ground with “ wahkeena springs ->”
This trail is partially paved, at the beginning and toward the end by Multnomah Falls. You’re treated to some surreal vistas over rows of burnt trees at various points. There are lots of offshoot trails, sort of a choose-your-own-adventure type deal if you have the time and the daylight!
Consistently steep, but doable. Enjoyable and gorgeous. Friendly people along the way. Everyone wearing masks appropriately.
This was our first time back since the fire 3 yrs ago. One of our favorite Gorge waterfalls, but it's lovelier in the spring and summer when there's more green. Still a great workout in the fresh air. We did a small lollipop loop with trail 420 and 419. The fire damage is sad to see.
great hike! made it all the way to the springs. parking is tight so take what you can get lol
The 1st mile or so is absolutely gorgeous, and worth doing on it's own. You follow the creek up in a narrow mossy canyon with interesting rock features, a rushing stream along side you and several waterfalls. This switch-back section made me feel like I was in a National Park, both for the scenery and Civilian Conservation Corps style construction of the rockwork and trail. Once you climb out of this canyon and arrive on top, it's meh walking through the burnt out forest - although you do get some great views of the surrounding gorge in some spots (like if you continue down 420 towards Multnomah Falls). If you're doing the loop - check that Multnomah Falls is open first! It was closed when we visited due to COVID-19 and we had to turn back halfway there.
