Directions from Sandy: Drive past Trillium Lake Campground, off Hwy. 26 and east of Government Camp, and continue around the lake until you join with Rd. 2613. Turn and climb 3 1/2 miles on the rough, narrow, dirt road to Fir Tree Camp. The trail is on the opposite side of the road from the camp.

Can anyone tell if it's possible to drive to the trailhead without an all wheel drive? We're looking to head there tomorrow and will appreciate your comment.

The road up past Trillium Lake is ROUGH, literally and figuratively. You can make it up without AWD but drive slooooow.

Bit of a drive for a short hike, but the small lake is lovely and secluded and good for a swim. Great view of Mt. Hood from the high point of the trail. Nice backcountry campsites cleared with fire rings.
