Directions from Prospect: Travel northeast on Highway #62 for approximately 10 miles until you reach the Union Creek Campground. Beginning at the footbridge crossing Union Creek at its confluence with the Rogue River, the trail runs through Union Creek Campground, paralleling Union Creek, crossing Highway #62 at the resort, and continuing on the north bank just past the resort area.

The Rogue Siskiyou forest is about to swallow this seriously overgrown trail. If you attempt it, use the trail on the north side of the creek. The south side trail head, while still marked, peters out quickly and runs by a fallen and partially concealed barbed wire fence that’s a bit dangerous. Avoid in favor of the many other excellent trails in the area.

Bruce is right. About a mile in the trail gets too closed in for comfortable (safe) travel. This portion needs clearance maintenance for any good use. I turned around after 10 minutes of pushing through brush and continued on the opposite side of the river along 1034a. It too closing in for about 10-15 minutes, but it was t nearly as bad.

A mile in from Union Creek, past a massive new bridge spanning the creek, the trail began a slow deterioration due to an obvious lack of maintenance. Trail condition was much better the last 1.5 miles to the falls. Made our way back to Union Creek via OHV Trails #42, #31, #35 (you need the Forest Service's Prospect OHV Trail System map to know which OHV trail leads back to Union Creek). 4-stars if it gets some maintenance.

Beautiful scenery, but totally neglected trail. 6 of us hiked the entire trail with lots of laughs as we crawled over and under humongous logs! (and a few naughty words). Needs big time help.

Lovely creek side walk but overgrown and hard to find trail at about 2.8 miles up from Hwy 62. Needs a trail crew to give TLC.

best trail ever.

This is a long moderate hike over some rough terrain. The path doesn't quite follow along the river and there are dense logs, trees and rocks blocking access to the river throughout most of the trail, which makes it difficult to see the falls along the way. At the end of the trail you can either turn around and go back the way you came or loop around to the gravel road on the left and follow it to Hwy 62 and walk to hwy 230 going left and you will come to the Gorge and then back to Union Creek area.
