Twin Tunnels East Side via Historic Columbia River Highway is a 3.7 mile moderately trafficked out and back trail located near Mosier, Oregon that offers scenic views and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for walking, running, nature trips, and road biking and is best used from March until November. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.
This section of the Columbia Historic Highway Trail is non-motorized and perfect for family riding. The views are stunning. Accessibility: The trail surface is paved and typically at least six feet wide. The estimated grade is steep (most above 7%), with a very steep section estimated at about 1.1 miles along the trail. Attaching lights or reflector strips on wheelchairs/mobility equipment and strollers are suggested for use inside the tunnels for safety.
This trail is awesome for a bike ride, beautiful views, tunnels are the icing in the cake. Bathroom are closed, only a few people along the way. Great for kids and dogs. The whole trail is paved.
This was a very well kept trail with beautiful views! It’s good for all ages and the tunnels are really cool. We also went off the south side of the parking lot on a different trail that had several small waterfalls before meeting back up with the road after a mile or so.
Cleared paved trail with beautiful view of the Columbia River
Easy, paved path trail with lookout areas for the Columbia River. The tunnels are impressive. Trail continues for many miles, the portion on AllTrails stops at the next lookout past the tunnel. If you don't mind passing on the next lookout, then turnback after the concrete tunnel.
This trail is a new discovery for us and we feel lucky to have found it. This section of the Columbia Historic Highway Trail is non motorized and perfect for family riding.
Nice view along the highway. Great spot for bike riding but also a good walking trail. Wouldn’t call it hiking lol. All in all very enjoyable
paved, mostly cyclists, a nice overlook on short, sunny, 2.2 mile out and back to tunnels.
I went on a hiking hiatus but decided to explore the Gorge for hiking opportunities. This trail is 9 miles out and back (18 miles), and I could only complete half. The trail is flat and paved and you are more likely to see cyclists than hikers. Excellent views of the Columbia River and local landscape. When I'm feeling more adventurous, I'll come back to complete the full trip.
This is a very easy paved flat beautiful stroll along the Columbia. The only two bad things I can say about it is that it’s quite close to 84 so you do hear a lot of road noise and some bicyclists do go very very fast (which is really aggravating since otherwise this would be an ideal walk to let little kids ride their bikes or toddle along). The views of the gorge are unbeatable, the tunnels are fascinating, and we had a delightful time. Note: the parking is a little odd. You park past the trail head and walk down the road a ways to get to this hike. The trailhead right by the parking lot is for a different more aggressive hike.
Eventhought it was raining, it was a great hike. Beautiful view of the gorge.
