Really fun and challenging hike. Went down to Tumble Lake to fish and caught 3-4 Brook Trout. Tough hike coming back out of the lake. Only ran into 3 other people (and they were all within the last 3 miles of the 12 mike hike).

Started at 1:15pm. Shaded the whole time , perfect temps, hiked down to the lake instead of the summit. Took a dip in the lake and made it back out before dinner at 8 :) wild strawberry’s, wild star jasmine, pretty flowers, great views, passed only 4 other groups while hiking. Side note ... stopped at the river to cool the feet and knees at the baby damn before heading to car. Helps soothe the muscle and joints from the long decent.

L Lewis was right. I was met with a closed sign and a taped off entrance today. Closed notice states that it is closed for helicopter assisted logging until mid-May, subject to change.

Heads up: a portion of this trail may be unusable for a few months this winter while they conduct logging operations in the area. See the following alert from the USFS: https://www.fs.usda.gov/alerts/willamette/alerts-notices/?aid=44049

Starting at the upper TH, I went to Dome Rock first... only took 45 minutes to get up there, phenomenol views! Then I went back to the intersection and took the trail down to Tumble Lake. The lake was gorgeous, lots of trees changing colors. However, the lake trail is very steep! Just go slowly; it was a great hike.
