Lovely leisurely trail, went in the snow and there were surprisingly few muddy spots. Near the river for a good part of the trail. Could hear a few gunshots. - 1/24

It was snowing so extra beautiful. Saw only 1 other person on the trail. Some muddy spots, but what you’d expect in the PNW. :)

Hiking

Mostly gradual with mostly good footing, a few soggy areas so bring waterproof shoes (came during rains to see mushrooms, which are everywhere on the trail). Campground parking is closed but just past it is Reehers Campground Trailhead, which is connected.

Nice quick hike to stretch your legs. Beautiful creek and tall trees. Will come back.

Lots of shade, some parts of the trail are overgrown. Our dog loved the trail and the creek. We saw some people in the parking area but no one on the trail. Gravel road for 2 miles leading to trailhead.

Nice trail! Perfect length and difficulty for a beginner. Moderate traffic. Horse droppings everywhere that you have to watch out for though

Trail had just been groomed. Had a 5 and 8 year old in tow. Plus a dog. No expansive views. But if you love a cascade forest 1hr from Portland. this is for you. A little buggy, but not terrible. No other people on the trail. Don’t forget to hit up the creek.

We liked going in the direction where you go up the hill first and end near the river.

Nice trail, was muddy in a few spots. Went on a Saturday afternoon, and bumped into only 2 families while completing trail. Kiddo completed it just fine and loved being able to touch the creek in some spots.

Trail was muddy in most areas but I expected that. Did this hike with my family and dog. Quiet for the most part except the gunshots off in the distance. Will maybe do again in the summer!

Hiking

Nice little trail, no spectacular views, but it's pleasant, lush with greenery, and the trail is easy to follow. I was the only car in the lot on a Wednesday afternoon, and only saw 2 people on horseback early in the hike. Otherwise my dog and I had it to ourselves. Very peaceful place.

First time hiking this trail and it was a good one. Perfect for beginners, families and/or hikers with dogs. Only saw 3 other groups. The highlights for for me on this hike were the creek, the snow and the serene, quiet forest. I will definitely do this hike again with my dogs. Trail was a little muddy from the snow melt but not too bad.

Brief but rewarding. Some nice changes in scenery but nothing spectacular. Best feature is the solitude, only saw one other group on a nice late summer Saturday. Has access to Gale's Creek trail if you get hungry for more hiking afterward.

Only saw one other group. The river is nice to walk next to. I would certainly do the hike again with the close proximity to Portland, just nothing super special.

Very swampy in two locations. (Well, I guess it was February) Not quite "pull your boots off" muskeg, but it can get grippy. Other places it is very "bushy" around the calves, sort of like an over-grown single-track bike trail. Not too bad, though, and is not too steep... Gets you around ok, esp if you are older...
