Great mellow trail run. Mostly single track with little elevation.
The loop is a little closer to 13 miles, if you hike from your campsite all the way around the lake. One of my first 10+ mile hikes, and it was a good one to start with. Not too much up and down hiking, but is still very scenic as parts of the trail pass through forest and other parts approach the lake. Amazing hike for long distance beginners!
Very well maintained trail. The segment through the campgrounds on the south shore were a bit boring but the other segments were incredible. I was amazed at the number of backcountry sites around the lake. A great place for a persons first backpacking trip.
This was 13 miles of walking around a lake, which was nice to look at for the first 2 hours... We drove from Portland expecting to see more. Not worth the 13 mile trek for what you see... Little Crater Lake off the trail is pretty. I wouldn't want to do again unless I went there to camp. Final thought: if you're coming from more than an hour away, find somewhere else to go. Not worth the drive and the walk isn't worth the views.
13 miles of very well-maintained trail. Mosquitoes can be a nuisance so be prepared.
It was more like 13 miles, but it was a well groomed for 90% of the trail. We averaged about 4 miles an hour and took breaks. We completed the hike in 4 hours. It is great to take a plunge into the lake when your done.
Fun loop hike for the kids! Great views and nice trails
