The Three Capes Route is one of our favorite scenic drives (note: it is no longer a "Loop", there is damage to the road that will not be repair just north of the Cape Mears lighthouse). You are up high at Cape Mears, with the Lighthouse, Octopus Tree and Big Spruce to explore, then down at the ocean level at Oceanside, where you can go through the tunnel at Maxwell Point. Follow along Netarts Bay and stop at the Whiskey Creek Fish Hatchery, where you can feed the HUGE outdoor trout. Back up high at Cape Lookout, hike the roundtrip trail that takes you out the westernmost point on the West Coast, then back down driving through the sand dunes. End your trip along the route at Pacific City, where you can watch surfers, see Haystack Rock and climb the sand dune at Cape Kiwanda.
