Many loop options with a total of about 5 miles of trails available. This will follow a figure-8 route. This is a fun figure eight loop that starts at a nice vista over the dunes and Sutton creek, then follows the creek to return via some huge dunes. It's a nice short walk through the woods on the Oregon Coast.

Really nice trail mostly under tree cover. Though we saw people/cars in the parking lot we did not run into anyone else when out on the trail. Did the full loop. Only a small section on sand/in the sun. Fun tree swing to have a rest at once you climb the small dune. It was a good thing I had a hiking book with me that described how to hook back up with the trail once you hit the campground. Super confusing and not well marked. When you hit the campground go left. At A11 take the trail to your left. Go left to B16. Left to cross footbridge & left again. Figuring out how/where to pay for parking was a thing. Ended up having to drive back out to the camp ground up the road and pay the now $7 fee there. All in all though it was a great hike and I'd totally do it again :)

Great easy hike. people in the group kept getting distracted climbing trees and we missed the trail we wanted but got back on course. We decided to stop at the lookout. It was a dash to get back before dark.

Lovely hike, only a short part of it is on sand. Cutting through the campground to get to the second half is a little confusing so having a map helps.

Beautiful trail close to home, will be back! You can do a short loop or longer route. My pup loved it! Not too many people when I went, very clean and clear path in dense forest setting for most of it, with a section in the dunes.

Fun place to hike with kids or go for a run! I liked it so much hiking with a group of kids that I went back the next day and ran it. Shady and covered by trees. The ground feels padded and bouncy I loved it.

As beautiful as dunes can be, however 3 stars because: 1) some benches are too tall: probably, the soil settled with time; 2) the dunes block the view of the ocean; 3) "Warning! Mountain lion is active in this area" as posted in the kiosk by the bridge leading from the loop north-east to Alder dunes. "Is active", not merely "sighted."

Beautiful trees on the short loop from the end of the road. Several benches to rest on, but at this time of year too damp. Many roots require close attention when walking.

Camped in the nearby developed campsite. Hiked out to the beach twice. Was incredibly peaceful. Encountered almost no people. Watched an amazing sunset in a hidden beach. Nothing like this in the city!

Easy to find. Great 5 mile round trip hike. Diverse trails with interesting scenery along the way. Luckily, my Trail book told us where the trails were once we emerged in the campground.
