We always take this trail all the way to Timberline Lodge and stop in for drinks. Early season was a great time for this snowshoe, less sinking in which makes it a bit easier. However, the last 3/4 mile when crossing the ski slopes is always tough and a bit difficult to navigate! Still worth it, though, for the lovely trail.

We parked at Government Camp, went up Alpine Trail to the left of the ski hill, and then continued up the trail towards Timberline Lodge. We were able to take a free shuttle down from the lodge back to the snowpark. Check times for shuttles, as we got lucky and caught the last one. There is also a shuttle that costs a few bucks that goes down to Sandy we were told. We did have to watch for skiers the last portion of the trail to the lodge but it was worth it. The trail overall was a bit steep in places.

The most fun way to go from Timberline lodge to Govt.Camp. Mellow snowboarding in winter or easy downhill hike in summer.

I thought the snow was much too heavy or my legs too weak. Not sure which. But i was tired at the end of the day.
