Hit the trail on an awesome day. Storm moved in, with wind howling and low clouds, yet great adventure. Logging was done recently which, when the weather is clear will give you some pretty amazing views. Solitude is what you will find out there. Highly recommend it. I ran it, my GPS came up slightly shorter than indicated. Make sure you have GPS with downloaded map. No cell service.

This is a nice trail - the lower half has views to the north and has a steep drive up to the higher half if you go that way. However, there has been a lot of logging on either side of the trail, especially on the lower half of the trail. In November 2018, there was still the strong smell of fresh cut Dougies, smoking brush piles, even logs that had not been pullled. Don’t expect a lot of old growth. That said, it’s still a nice trail. This would be a great narrow road for trail running too. I saw no one. But I saw a lot of interesting boletes and lactarias. The views are gorgeous! Not another person in sight. Definitely will do again.

It would be perfect if it was like 2 miles shorter.

This was an incredibly beautiful hike! There wasn’t one person on this trail. This is probably due to the fact that the path was on a logging road. However, don’t let this deter you from checking it out. My recommendation is park before you enter the logging road giving you another mile and assisting in the safety of your vehicle as there is no parking lot. Bring a fully charged phone so you can stay on the recorded trail. Lots of trees, great views, and waterways along your path. If you’re looking for isolation, and a 30 minute drive for a hike outside of Corvallis, this is your spot!

Really nice hike out in the Coast Range... on logging roads. Easy walking, the elevations are spread out and go up and down over the entire loop. Follow the trail track; there are lots of side roads.

This trail has some great views as well as a pleasing mix of uphill/downhill. It is not marked and one can easily go off on side roads if they're not following GPS or have a detailed map. I recommend parking at the fork in the road about a quarter mile from the trail head.
