Step Creek Trail is a 5.9 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near Timber, Oregon that features a great forest setting and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, nature trips, and birding and is best used from March until October.
Note: There is a new section of trail (2014) that cuts off a bit of the portion where you walked the road. This is really a pretty nice hike through second growth forests. Lots of moss, nice open forest floor, and stream crossings.
beautiful hike attempted hike 2/25/2017 the trail is covered in debris and hasn't been completely cleared yet. there is very little snow here. will attempt to complete trail in spring.
Nice mossy vine maples and second growth Doug fir. Has a nice feel to it. There's a meadow at the far SE end of the trail.
This trail is just a short, out-and-back offshoot of the longer Gales Creek trail. It's worth checking out if you're hiking through anyway.
