Steens Mountain Summit is a 0.9 mile moderately trafficked out and back trail located near Princeton, Oregon that features beautiful wild flowers and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, nature trips, and bird watching and is best used from May until September.
Decent views south of the Pueblo mountains and an OK view east towards Alvord lake. Some low growing pretty wildflowers. It was very windy when I was there so make sure to hold on to you hat! Super easy, but slid a bit coming down hiking in my Chacos while my dog was pulling me downhill. Lol! It’s always a beautiful view except for the equipment up top. Waited out the storm for about 40 minutes before I hiked to the summit with my dog Summit!!
