Hike thorugh thick evergreen forest with a great view of Mary's Peak This is an up hill hike through thin and thick stands of pine trees to the top of a hill with a view of Kings Valley and Mary's Peak. The trail from the parking lot is narrow and can be muddy (note old water filter holding pond). The trail then merges with the South Meadow loop, which is a single lane dirt road (more like a mowed strip). Take the trail to the left or up the hill and continue up hill to the top. Along the way watch for deer, the wild flowers meadow and a view of Mary's Peak. From the top you be able to see King's valley. Since this trail is covered in grass, it can be slippery if wet, watch your step. For you geocachers, there is a cache at the top.

Sweet little State Park. For the South Ridge Trail, follow signs to the South Loop and South Meadow. Go left at the top instead of following signs to the South Ridge. It was noisy after about 7:30 with nearby farm equipment. Go before 7 for a more peaceful hike. The first mile is uphill. After that, it's easy. You'll hike through the woods and around a meadow. At the top, there are peekaboo territorial views.

Beautiful story at the beginning of this fun short hike makes you really feel the nostalgia in the forest. A sincere thank you for opening this up to all that enjoy being among the trees.
