Slide Lake is accessible from a couple different directions. You can come in from High Lake but also from the Strawberry Lake Campground which is roughly 4 miles. It is moderately difficult this way. Beautiful lake with normally pretty good trout fishing.
We got to the trailhead fairly late and did the 1.3 mile hike down to High Lake after dark. Next day we packed up camp and went over the ridge to Slide Lake. Lots of wildflowers. Glorious views. Slide Lake is beautiful with a 1000+ ft cliff across the lake from us. My buddy Steve caught some nice trout. Not too many people although Steve ran into some people he knew.
