Gorgeous views of the river and seasonal wildflower viewing opportunities. This trail is easy but it can get windy.

This trail is super easy to hike. It was super windy at the top but made for an excellent experience! Looking out over th edge onto the Gorge from that high up with nothing but endless green and yellow brown rolling hills. This was my favorite hike next to Lost Lake Butte in Oregon! hiked 9/2019

Gorgeous views of the river and many flowers starting to bloom. Easy trail except for the wind was blowing a little hard today. The parking lot was almost full but once you get on the trail people are pretty spread out.

One of my favorites. Easy out and back (I took my 65 year old non-hiker father and he didn’t have any problems. Gorgeous views of The Gorge.

Nice views, easy to walk, but very hot when it was 93 out yesterday. I can’t wait to go back in April to see the wild flowers.

Gorgeous panoramic views of the Columbia River Gorge. Easy and flat. Only drawback was lack of shade on a hot sunny day, and wildflowers dried up long ago.

The Rowena Plateau Trail is an easy hike with one exception. If you’re afraid of heights, you might want to reconsider hiking it. It’ll take you to the edge of the gorge walls, while a blustering wind hits you. It offers a bird’s eye view of the river below and the little town of Lyle Washington where the Klickitat empties into the Columbia. You can see people recreating on the beech as well as one or two wind surfers. Lyle, arguably, might be better for windsurfing than Hood River. There’s a couple of spring fed swamp holes along the way, but they aren’t very accessible. Lots of tall grass and flowers in the spring. It’s a good companion to the McCall Point Trail and you can easily do both on the same day.

Rowena Plateau was a pleasant surprise! It’s a mostly flat dirt trail on top of the plateau, but it also has some gorgeous wildflowers, a hidden wetland, and frequent falcon sightings. The trail is easy to follow and has amazing views of the gorge. The out and back took me about 35 minutes so it was quick, too. Very much worth the stop!

Nice short trail with lots of view at the top. It’s kid friendly and the views are specatacular with both columbia river gorge and plateau at sight.

I loved it! It was a really chill hike. Would have done the other trails around here but I was pretty limited on time. GREAT photo opportunity and just a good place to relax. We saw a pretty big snake on the trail but didn’t get a good enough look to see what kind.

This is a must see destination in the gorge. Amazing views. Be sure to go in April to see the wild flowers. Also we discovered dogs are not allowed on the trails here (volunteers sit in their cars to stop you). I wish we knew that ahead of time.

Easy hike with lovely views. Really quite fascinating to see the terrace-like terrain of the lava flows contrasting with the bright wildflowers. Did this as a twofer with Tom McCall Point. Watch for rattlesnakes.

Lovely beautiful easy hike with fascinating terrain. Mid April and the wildflowers were just starting; if you’re looking for a full blown wildflower experience wait a couple weeks. The wind was intense; bring ear protection and something warm. Stunning views. Some trails were closed/disappearing but the signage wasn’t very clear. Responding to the below review, the trail isn’t close to the cliffs in most spots but there are definitely a few places if you do the full loop that you’ll want to be holding little guys’ hands and made my height-afraid husband feel a little woozy. Friendly reminder that there’s no dogs on this trail; ran into some other hikers with their dogs that didn’t realize that and they were disappointed to have to turn around.

Beautiful views! Wild flowers starting to pop up everywhere (mid April ) ! Mostly flat, easy terrain , no drop offs near trail , great for young kids . You could also do the Tom McCall trail at the same trailhead for more of a workout or more views.
