The Row River National Recreation Trail is one of the great rail trails on the west coast. It is 15 miles of smooth pavement that goes from town, by the suburbs, through the forest, by the 4 mile long Dorena lake and out to the little town of Dorena. There are a number of good trail heads, including in the town of Cottage Grove.

Great because you can start in various locations and get a little something different with each section. Good for changing up your run from day to day.

I had much higher hopes for this trail.

Not great for walking if you start in DT Cottage Grove. Better to just skip past all the grand vistas of the Walmart, car dealerships, and junkyards. The first three miles or so (up to Mosby Creek Trailhead) just run parallel to the road, definitely not a nature trail and I passed some pretty shady characters (not trees). Next time I'll just park at Mosby.

We parked at Bohemia Park in downtown Cottage Grove and started at Row River Trail Park. We rode the entire trail to Culp Creek Trailhead. It’s a nice 33 mile ride round trip. The trail goes slightly uphill on the way out, and slightly downhill coming back of course. Overall, it’s pretty flat though. There are at least 5 bathrooms along the way, but we didn’t see water fountains, so take plenty. The scenery is beautiful. Riding through farmland and seeing llamas, cows and horses up close was a treat for these urbanites.

In the day of http://cyclethelakes.org/ , I rode it to the end. IMHO, if you refrain from the final portion where the bike path reduces to a Row River road shoulder, you lose nothing. The ride along Dorena lake is the most picturesque part.

Excellent trail,. really enjoyed the trail from town to its end. easy ride, though happened to be on a weekend of record heat over 100 degrees. the mornings were wonderful though. stayed at Shwarz park campground and bikes to the trail a short distance west on row river road. we will do this trail again

this is an easy ride, but it was the first ride of season for me so it was a good start. got lucky with a nice spring day. people are very nice on trail. plenty of room and lots of rest spots with good views. also a good mix of shade and sun, tho in the morning that shaded areas were a little chilly
